Adding a touch of jest, someone else quipped, “He couldn’t afford a haircut with that fat new contract???”

Coming to his defense, Jell Ashley, a Facebook user, expressed deep concern over the comments about his hair, emphasizing,

It is very disturbing that people on here are commenting about his hair. His hair does not make him play better or worse. He is not his hair and because you don’t care for it doesn’t make it bad. Our hair is different than and we all express ourselves differently through our hair. You have no idea what his culture is nor his hair situation. So I’m pretty sure that if he wanted a haircut, he would have it done.

She added that it was disheartening that some only focused on his hair, overlooking all his talent.
